Not only this, but they also gossip and get involved in other people's business, saying things they shouldn't say. Wow the internet really opens up this possibility doesnt it? Only nowadays we go from *house to house* while sitting on our butts (internet)! And we gossip and get involved in other peoples business via telephone,internet,and God fobid TV! Gasp!

These sites...Facebook,Myspace ect are there for one purpose...to promote YOU! Self expression,self realization,self exaltation self self self...I Me My. There is nothing good or noble about self expression. Even shy backward kids can safely say ***hey look at me*** without much fear of immediate rejection. It is exaltation of self(...usually....I know there some exceptions there). But generally those types of deals dont promote others ...there is no call to service or goodness its just narcissism on demand....in a voyeristic world. Really when we read about each other its not even always because we are interested but to see if we ourselves measure up....Its a competition...who can be the most clever. Who has the snarkiest heading to their last blog entry. Who is the most witty and can I outdo you?

I,ME,MY.I,ME,MY.IMEMY..the virtual mantra.There is nothing edifying about self promotion. 100 years ago the news evoked at the very least a sense of community...but more often than not it was a call to serve....news about what needed to be done around the community and country....how we can better help one another? Now days the news isnt news its entertainment in tiny little bites lest the viewer become bored.Its a passive activity (oxymoron)....We suck in the horror and give nothing back all the while becoming more and more desensitized.The more sensational the better. And in a sense we have all become our own little newscasters promoting our selves. Its exciting for others especially strangers to have an interest in you. Means you must have some worth.
