I love it when I feel Jesus teaching me, I know He is always teaching me and the times when I dont feel Him are sometimes His most teachable moments, but isnt it nice when we can hear, see and feel Him?
I feel Him teaching me that living for God is not passive, cant be. We cant say a prayer of repentance and move on, repentance needs a plan. Wisdom is something to be desired but a simple prayer for wisdom wont produce it. In regards to obtaining wisdom the Word makes it clear that we are to diligently seek wisdom....Proverbs 2 tells us to do these thing in order to obtain wisdom.

- apply your heart
- call out
- cry aloud
- search for it as silver
Christianity cant be passive, its impossible for His Spirit to sit stagnant. He ever liveth.
Ephesians 4:14,15 - Be no longer children, but grow up in Christ.
2 Peter 3:18 - but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 1:3 - The Thessalonians grew exceedingly in faith.
Philippians 1:9 - Paul prayed for their love to abound more and more.

Jesus said to ask and he would pour it out, but yes your right we have to also act. Great post you should post more than you do.
ReplyDeleteSo true... I always think to myself that if I'm not moving forward in Him, then I am moving backwards. I can't be content to stay in the same place spiritually :)

Repentance needs a plan? That's us trying to be God.
ReplyDeleteRepentance is beautiful. It's a heart-change, heart adjustment. Out of repentance may come changes, plans, new ideas, etc. But repentance itself should be seen exclusive from our plans. Repentance is a grace-enabled heart turn toward God. It's confessing that we can't be our own Savior. We can't say enough, do enough, be good enough, be resolute enough (how's that working out for us), but that we rest completely in His promise and in Him. We fully accept His atoning work, trust him exclusively for salvation. Believe that it's done. We don't move on right away. We sit there and soak that in. It's a reality. It's Spirit-regeneration. It's new birth. New creation.
Then, that regenerated heart lives it out in full living color. It goes beyond "5 Steps to not Sin" and into "Keep the cross central in your life... in all things." Live like a man/woman who has been freed from an enormous debt, something you don't deserve. Live... GRACEFUL :)
