The Bible talks about people who strain at gnats and swallow camels, they obsess and fuss over small issues while neglecting the weightier issues like faith, justice and mercy.
I did a quick word search to try to find out what God thinks important enough to mention over and over again in His word. I pray these ongoing themes would be the ongoing themes of my heart. God let my actions words and deeds scream where your Words screams and let my life whisper where your Word whispers.

ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous, I'd be interested in an experiment. Pulling the last 25 sermons at any church at random. Not taking the title for granted, summarizing in one sentence what the message was really about.
ReplyDeleteThen... see how often we talk about Jesus -- or how much is about us overcoming sin, other churches, us, how we dress, how we believe, how we should act, how we give, how we worship.... but how much just about Jesus?
K. But in order for us to keep Jesus.. We need to know how to overcome sin, to worship, to dress etc... if our dress is incorrect... It is sin.. And then Jesus won't be there because he can't be around sin... A growing church had to preach or teach new members or visitors why we worship how we do.. Or dress how we do.. Otherwise we would lose the knowledge, then what? Knowledge is power right? Knowing how to overcome sin so that we can be closer to God.. I don't think your anonymous survey would work unless you knew the state thst church was in.
