We religous types are sold out and separate. We try to serve Him with our whole hearts. Forsaking all and following Him. The enemy knows this and will take advantage of our zeal and fervor and even pervert our passion. If he cant get us to live for the world he will try to make us go overboard the other way exalting church religion Pastor above the Lord Himself.
Im guilty. I would never go a week without church. Seriously. I just hardly ever miss for any reason. But I am ashamed to admit that I have gone a week without prayer. I would never dream of neglecting to smile and greet my Pastor but I have ignored the still small voice.
*But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone* Matt 23
Whats really important and who are we really serving here. Him or Religion?
So glad to see your post on idols. I have often wondered the same thing about church-related items, myself. It *is* possible to worship the "creation" (choir, service, even pastor) above the Creator. It's a thin--nearly invisible--line that can be crossed. Hard to see, but it can happen. Thank you so much for that post!
ReplyDeleteI meant to mention a resource on this topic...a book called "Equipped to Love: Building Idolatry-Free Relationships" that you might be interested in. It is really insightful. It is by Norm Wakefield. He has the book on his ministry's website at http://www.spiritofelijah.com/resources/equippedtolove/
ReplyDeleteJacqi,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the book suggestion. I plan to buy it and thank you for the comment.
For me...finding balance is a constant struggle and I appreciate you letting me know I am not alone.
