Perhaps He wanted to teach us to love and serve even when our spouse was unlovable and didnt have much to offer. If you have been married for a long time you know what I am talking about.
God wanted to teach us how to love,serve and lay down our lives for another on a daily basis so He gave us marriage. For example ....If you commit to another there will indeed be times that your spouse is rude,unkind, and selfish. Here is our oppurtunity to be like Christ, to lay down our lives. To extend mercy. To submit, honor and love....perhaps even die to self.
Nothing extracts selfishness and pride and inserts love humility and service like a healthy marriage. Problem is alot of people think marriage is supposed to make us happy and when it doesnt they give up instead of giving in.
