Worship

Would Jesus have a worship team? Hmmm….David arranged and choreographed some fantastic music…..but he also engaged the Spirit of God just by sitting on the side of a hill singing to God in the midst of smelly sheep.

What kind of worship does God appreciate?

  1. Pure, heartfelt. I, for one, think our worship services these days are entirely TOO choreographed. (Too much choreography runs the risk of too much SELF.) Not at all a popular opinion, these days, but oh, well.

This comes from someone with 25 years of involvement in the music/worship in my church, so I'm not entirely "wet behind the ears".

I don't think I comment on anyone else's blog as much as yours. You always manage to strike an introspective chord in me..........

  2. I love the image you have on the post--striking.

I believe God appreciates all sincere worship--whatever form it takes. You raise an important and timely issue. While of course I can't know anyone's heart, and I do not in any way want to set myself up as a judge, it does appear some times that little worship is extended from singers and musicians. But there are wonderful other times when I see singers weeping, and observe passionate musicians abandon their instruments and rise in praise.

God help us to get it right.

  3. This is an interesting topic I have thought on a lot. I don't know that I have come to a conclusion, but here are my thoughts... for whatever they are worth. :o)

Someone can be giving genuine and heartfelt worship, but still be receiving vain glory because of their own human talents. Does that negate their worship to God? If man gains vain glory from his peers and onlookers because of his or her talent, does it make God jealous? Or is God "ok" with His servants displaying their talents, and receiving monetary gain or verbal praise?

I really don't know where I stand on any of it, to be honest.

That being said, I think a lifestyle that glorifies God is the ultimate form of worship. Only God knows the heart.

  4. Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog. I am so sorry I don't remember where I got the header from. I paid someone to design the blog for me b/c I cannot figure out how to do all that cool stuff. So maybe she had it already. There might be a link to her on my blog(sidebar) and she would probably tell you. Hope that helps!!!
    Blessings!

  6. Are you insinuating that perhaps worship isn't about entertaining us worshipers? That maybe it isn't about whether *we* like the songs or the beat?
Boy, you're really going against the grain here, lady. I have grown up in big churches with excellent praise & worship bands. We are now at a new (and therefore itty bitty) church with one guy and one acoustic guitar to lead worship. When he's out of town, we have iPod worship. I greatly prefer the iPod, but then it doesn't really matter what I prefer. ;)
